Constructed with a combination of lizard, ostrich, and matte alligator leathers, the Hermès Kelly showcases a sophisticated design. The size measures 35 cm in length, 24 cm in height, and 12 cm in depth.
Lizard leather features small, uniform scales with a glossy finish, while ostrich leather is characterised by its polka-dot pattern and resilience, developing a patina over time. The matte alligator leather presents a balanced pattern of rectangular and round scales.

Hermès Construction
Created by Hermès jeweller Pierre Hardy in 2011, the Ghillies style is based on a traditional style of shoe from Scotland called the “ghillie brogue,” whose perforations allow the leather to dry out after the shoe has been worn outdoors. Hardy added the curved perforated trims to both Birkins and Kellies, either in the same colour as the body of the bag, or in a contrasting colour. The Ghillies detailing was available on limited edition bags only and went out of production in around 2015.
Hermès Material
Hermès Lizard is one of the delicate exotic leathers. Sourced primarily from the Ring Lizard (Varanus Salvator), it is recognized for its small, uniform scales and elegant, glossy finish that gives each piece a jewel-like appearance.
The quill pattern of the feathers gives Ostrich its instantly recognizable polka-dot-like appearance. One of the most resilient of the Hermès leathers, Ostrich is lightweight, wears well and actually improves with age, developing a subtle patina over time.
The Matte finish is achieved by softly sanding and polishing the skin with felt. Imperfections show clearly so each skin has to be as perfect as possible. The central scales are rectangular, gradually tapering to smaller, rounder ones toward the edges, creating a balanced and symmetrical pattern. Alligator is signified by a small square ☐ next to the Hermes name on the bag.
