Hermès Lizard is one of the delicate exotic leathers. Sourced primarily from the Ring Lizard (Varanus Salvator), it is recognized for its small, uniform scales and elegant, glossy finish that gives each piece a jewel-like appearance.
The quill pattern of the feathers gives Ostrich its instantly recognizable polka-dot-like appearance. One of the most resilient of the Hermès leathers, Ostrich is lightweight, wears well and actually improves with age, developing a subtle patina over time.
The Matte finish is achieved by softly sanding and polishing the skin with felt. Imperfections show clearly so each skin has to be as perfect as possible. The central scales are rectangular, gradually tapering to smaller, rounder ones toward the edges, creating a balanced and symmetrical pattern.
