The Birkin 35 is the original and most classic size of the iconic Birkin bag - celebrated for its blend of luxury, function, and timeless design. Introduced in the 1980s for actress and style icon Jane Birkin, the 35cm version was created to be roomy enough for everyday essentials, making it the ultimate chic carryall for modern life. For practical work or travel bag, it will carry a laptop and almost everything else although it gets heavy when full and is too large for an evening bag. Hermès Material

Known as Gulliver until it was discontinued in 1999, this leather was reintroduced in 2005 as Swift. It has a fine grain which is soft to the touch and the ability to absorb dyes and reflect the light make it very popular. The drawback to Swift is that it is easily scratched so needs careful handling.

Toile refers to the woven fabric, usually cotton or a cotton blend, used by Hermès in many of its handbags often in conjunction with leather. Toile de Camp is a special edition, washed canvas featuring equestrian-themed patterns, such as the Cavalcadour or Dechainee motifs, that are woven into the fabric.

Hermès Colour

It is extremely hard to find any Hermes bag in White - its limited seasonal availability and delicate nature mean it is only produced in select quantities. It is true, bright white which looks particularly fabulous with Gold hardware.

Hermès Palladium hardware is made of solid brass, giving weight and durability, and then plated in precious metal. Palladium belongs to the platinum group of metals and has a brighter and whiter look than silver. More precious than gold, palladium is hard wearing and scratch-resistant.
