Hermès Style & Size
The Hermès Birkin 25 is the scaled down version of Hermès’ most iconic handbag. Lined with chevre leather and featuring both a zip and slip pocket there’s enough room for a phone, wallet, keys, and small hairbrush, but not a lot else. It looks beautiful and dainty. Small people or those with very petite hands, can usually pass their hands through handles of a size 25, otherwise it is usually carried in the hand.
Hermès Material
Known as Gulliver until it was discontinued in 1999, this leather was reintroduced in 2005 as Swift. It has a fine grain which is soft to the touch and the ability to absorb dyes and reflect the light make it very popular. The drawback to Swift is that it is easily scratched so needs careful handling.
Hermès Colour
Bleu Navy is usually a deep dark blue that appears almost black in low light but reveals a luxurious blue hue under natural lighting. Having said that, we had a navy Birkin in 2021 in swift leather which was far closer to a mid blue. So as with many Hermes colours, the hue changes according to the bag and the year. What is certain is that with the classic deep navy, there is a double colour: the bag colour appears to be nearly black from one angle; and classic navy from the other side, it becomes a very adaptable accessory, pairing with both neutrals and bold colours.
Hardware
Hermès Gold hardware is made of solid brass, giving weight and durability, plated in either 18 carat gold, or for some Special Order bags, 24 carat gold and then hand polished. Choose gold hardware for a warm, luxurious finish to your bag.
