Hermès Style & Size

The Hermès Birkin 20 is a rare, ultra-mini version of the iconic Birkin bag, sometimes referred to as the "Mini Birkin", the Birkin 20 is a highly sought-after piece that has the same silhouette and detailing as the original Birkin. While not intended for everyday utility, the Birkin 20 is ideal for evening events, high-fashion occasions, or collectors who value ultra-rare miniatures. It typically fits essentials like a cardholder, lipstick, and small phone.

Hermès Material

The high-gloss finish of Shiny Alligator is achieved by buffing the skin with a stone. This traditional technique compresses the surface scales and produces a natural, mirror-like sheen which can help disguise small imperfections. The central scales are rectangular, gradually tapering to smaller, rounder ones toward the edges, creating a balanced and symmetrical pattern. Alligator is signified by a small square ☐ next to the Hermes name on the bag.

One of Hermès’ most recognisable leathers, Togo is a supple, pebbled leather and features a distinctive vertical grain that is slightly raised to the touch. Although lightweight it holds its shape well and has the advantage of being resistant to scratches and can even withstand a little light rain.

First produced in 2022, Sombrero is smooth with a matte appearance. It is a sturdy leather and often used in structured bags like the Constance and Kelly.

The successor to Courchevel leather, Epsom is an embossed calfskin with a fine grain and subtle sheen. It absorbs colour well and the rigid nature of the leather means it is often used for Sellier style bags.

Known as Gulliver until it was discontinued in 1999, this leather was reintroduced in 2005 as Swift. It has a fine grain which is soft to the touch and the ability to absorb dyes and reflect the light make it very popular. The drawback to Swift is that it is easily scratched so needs careful handling.

Hermès Colour

Béton is a light, cool-toned grey that embodies modern minimalism. Named after the French word for “concrete,” Béton is an unusual grey-cream shade that works well with almost any colour palette and can be worn through all four seasons of the year, even in the UK!

It is extremely hard to find any Hermes bag in White - its limited seasonal availability and delicate nature mean it is only produced in select quantities. It is true, bright white which looks particularly fabulous with Gold hardware.

One of the palest of blues, Bleu Brume … is it a pastel baby blue or an ice blue? As with all Hermes colours, the exact tone depends on the leather and the tanning process used on that particular leather hide, so beware, Hermes colours can change slightly from bag to bag. Brume has silvery grey undertones and was first seen in 2020. For us, it is one of the prettiest colours every produced.

Orange is the brand’s signature and most iconic colour. Bold, cheerful, and instantly recognizable, this vivid true orange embodies the spirit of Hermès: timeless craftsmanship, joyful energy, and modern elegance. It has become synonymous with the brand itself, famously featured not only in their leather goods but also in the iconic Hermès orange box. It makes a vibrant statement and pairs beautifully with many outfits.

Hardware

Hermès Palladium hardware is made of solid brass, giving weight and durability, and then plated in precious metal. Palladium belongs to the platinum group of metals and has a brighter and whiter look than silver. More precious than gold, palladium is hard wearing and scratch-resistant.
